Fall Yoga Retreat in Tuscany, Italy!
October 7-14th 2017

Yoga. Opera. Wine tasting.
with Aino Siren

Our home for the week is Il Borghino, a Tuscan retreat villa nestled on a hilltop with incredible views overlooking the charming medieval town of Lucca. Lucca is a beautiful and fascinating city known for it’s well-preserved Renaissance walls encircling the historic city center. Let’s escape to Italy and enjoy our yoga practice under the Tuscan sun, and get a taste of La Dolce Vita!

Il Borghino comprises of three separate houses showcasing large elegant rooms with fabulous views from every window. There are several outdoor terraces, a saltwater swimming pool and a Turkish sauna.

Each day involves an enlivening and energizing morning yoga/meditation session, and an afternoon yin/restorative practice. The indoor yoga room is located downstairs in the communal area with glass windows looking into the swimming pool. We will also utilize the terraces overlooking the hills and olive groves for some of the classes, to take in the peace and serenity of the beautiful countryside.

A night at the Opera following an afternoon of tasting wine at an exquisite local vineyard, plus a special kirtan and sound bath led by the yogini musician Idgy Dean are all included in our schedule. There will also be plenty of free time for you to roam the neighboring hills and groves, plus numerous optional excursions and activities, like a day trip to the breathtaking coastal villages of Cinque Terre, cooking class, bike and walking tours of Lucca, or spa treatments. Our retreat villa, is located 35 minutes from Pisa and 1.5 hrs from Florence. Here is the website for the retreat center if you are curious to see more.

Tropical Retreat to Isla Holbox, Mexico

February 11th-18th 2017

with Aino Siren & Cassandra Ferland

For their fifth annual yoga retreat, Cassandra and Aino return to the stunning Holbox island, Mexico for a weeklong getaway. The island is part of an ecological reserve In the Yucatan Peninsula, separated from the mainland by a shallow lagoon that is home to flamingos, pelicans and other rich birdlife. Holbox is a Mayan name that translates to ‘black hole’; a place where time and space seem to disappear. That is the effect the island has on its visitors; deeply relaxing the mind, body and soul. It is a quiet, spacious oasis with no public cars. Palapas del Sol, our setting for the week, is a beautiful oceanfront hotelito complete with a salt water pool, beautifully furnished dining area, and cottages made from locally sourced materials. The food is divine- fresh, organic, and lovingly prepared by the gracious Mayan people who work there. It’s just 90 minutes from the Cancun airport, via car (1h), ferry (25min) and golf cart (5min). The nearby town gives the perfect opportunity to further explore the food and culture of the island.

Each day includes an enlivening morning yoga, meditation, and afternoon classes that alternate between deep stretch restorative classes and power yoga. Classes will be held on Palapas brand new Yoga Shala, on the top floor of the main building, which provides panoramic views of the beach, ocean mangrove, and lagoon as well as both sunrise and sunsets. Join us for an unforgettable experience and a chance to deepen your practice, leaving you recharged and renewed!

Daily options for activities include:

  • Relax or sunbathe on the beach, in a beachside cabana, or in the seawater infinity pool
  • Rent a Paddleboard or Kiteboard; Holbox has one of the safest beaches for learning how to kite board with professional instructors.
  • Isla Pajaros (Bird Island) is a 30 minute boat ride, and tours are available to view more than 140 species of birds including pink flamingos
  • Visit fresh water swimming holes bordering the lagoon that separates Isla Holbox from the mainland.
  • Deep sea or fly fishing
  • An optional adventure day trip to explore Mayan Ruins and a Cenote on the mainland of the Yucatan peninsula
  • Pamper yourself with massage, Marma, Raindrop Technique, or private yoga
  • An evening outing to a nearby local restaurant

All rooms at Palapas del Sol are on the beach and feature a private bath, AC, elegant Caribbean décor with wood floors, and wifi. Many have ocean views. We will honor room requests on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited!

Prices vary upon accommodation, inquire for more details. Cost includes room accommodation, yoga classes, pre-yoga juices and snacks, after yoga brunch, and dinner daily*. Options for gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian diets will be available.
